Knowledge of Ebike Battery 2017-12-12

1.How to choose the RIGHT Ebike battery?

First of all, please get to know the answers to those questions below:

1)the motor wattage of the ebike?

2)the voltage and the capacity of the battery?

3)the type of battery case-rear rack, inserted, downtube, foldable or customized? (Please check here to check for the full line of ebike battery models)

4)  the size requirements .

2. How Long will My Electric Bike Battery Last?

That’s a tough question to answer. It depends on the power of the battery (typically 24V, 36V or 48V), the power of the bike, the bike’s battery management system(BMS), and the way you ride. Some bikes allow you to choose different levels of assist to priorities speed or battery life, which makes predictions of battery life even more difficult.

Typically you can expect somewhere between 25 and 70 miles of travel on a single charge of an ebike. If you’re riding hard on full power expect less; manage your battery life well and you could get more.

3. How to Choose Lithium Battery Charger?

The Lithium batteries must be charged with compatible lithium battery charger provided by the original battery supplier, because a wrong charger may jeopardize your ebike battery, or even worse, cause unfavorable risks and accidents.

In general, the optimal charging current for a lithium battery is at 0.2C-0.5C. C mean C-rate, the multiply of the nominal capacity. For instance, for the 24V 15Ah battery pack, the recommended charging current of the charger is 3-7.5A (15Ah*0.2C=3A, 15Ah*0.5C=7.5A).

4. The Storage and Proper Disposal of the Lithium Battery Pack ?

The best way to store the battery pack is keeping in ventilated and dry place at -20℃-55℃ temperature range, not leaving the battery pack anywhere close to fire or any other heat source.

It is advisable to charge the battery at least once a month if the bike is not ridden much, and that the more the bike is ridden, the stronger the battery will be. All batteries, though, will deteriorate in time and they will need to be replaced and disposed. When that time comes, it’s best to ask your supplier how to dispose of the battery, but bear in mind that recycling and disposal facilities should be provided by local authorities.

5. Other DO’S and DON’TS About your Ebike Battery:

1)Never fully drain your battery of power. When the battery power LED light shows low power, stop and re-charge your battery. Serious damage may be caused to batteries that are allowed to go flat.

2) Always charge your battery after every ride! Do not leave the battery connected to the bicycle during recharge and this can damage the battery BMS and your bikes speed controller.

3) When you recharge your battery, make sure it is unplugged as soon as it has finished charging. Do not leave the battery on charge overnight! Batteries and chargers can get very hot while charging.

4) Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures. Ensure the battery is well ventilated when charging.

5) Ensure the battery is not exposed to fire or water.

6)Ensure the battery does not suffer impact damage through being dropped or damaged during an accident.

7) Ensure the battery is mounted securely on the bicycle. Excessive vibration, bumps or shakes during riding can cause damage to the internal battery pack.

8) Take special care to ensure the discharge port (power out) of the battery does not sustain any pressure or force or it will come loose could break.

9)Ensure the battery is charged at least once a month when not in use for a long time. Any battery will lose its charge and become less efficient over time. Batteries prefer to be charged and discharged regularly to ensure they continue working correctly. Batteries left for more than one month without charging could be permanently damaged.
